WHY DO WE READ QURAN, EVEN IF WE CANT UNDERSTAND SINGLE ARAB WORD
???? Assalamu Alaikkum wa Rahmathullahi Wa Barakathuhu, Dear Brothers and sisters in Islam, Why do we read Quran, even if we can't understand a single Arabic word????
An old Muslim lived on a farm with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Qur'an. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, 'Grandpa! I try to read the Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?' The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, 'Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water.' The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to move a little faster next time,' and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, 'See Grandpa, it's useless!' 'So you think it is useless?' The old man said, 'Look at the basket.' The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out. 'Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur' an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out.

i suppose this is why ppl who understood arabic and lived during the prophet's time weren't affected by the Quran? People like Abu Lahab and his wife. the water just flowed through them. maybe they were made of plastic and the marks on them were made by a permanent marker instead of coal.
does this mean that if i read plato's repubic in the original greek i'd become more phiolosophical? or if i read sade's 100 days in Sodom in the original french i'd become sadistic?
if this is the parable of reading the quran without understanding it, then here is the parable of reading it with understanding. a water skin is used by the boy to carry grease. it becomes progressibely dirty. why? because the more one reads it the more one becomes hatefl and intolerant. the only way out is to read it critically and absorb what is useful in it and rub out all the useless portions.
Don’t remove and throw any part of the Quran.
Nobody can make any changes to the Quran. So don’t try to manipulate it.
You’re talking about here abu lahab and his wife, He does afraid the Quran and its Messenger. Though he afraid it’s something else that he does not believe ah’lah.
Do you know why Quran came from Arabic language?
Do you know why human exist?
Do you know why this earth and its surrounding planets are existed?
Do you know the feeling existed in you but did you see them?
You’re saying that, the Arabs those who live during the prophet’s time were not affected because they knew Arabs and read Quran and your showing example for him. It’s very funny that, if you are thinking like that. And again you are saying read it critically and remove the useless part. I want ask you something, if you read the Quran ever, would you ever left any part unread because that you feel it is unnecessary. In Quran there’s no useless part in it. All the words in it are useful. Though this shows you haven’t read the Quran yet.
In a story grandfather is trying to convinced him that, the boy who taking the water in a basket that, if you read once and if you do not get anything read it again and again. So finally who read Quran daily would knew everything and it lights up a hearts of the people who read it.
The above all questions answers you will get it from it. Read it my dear friends try get something from it before the last day of the grave come.
My dear friend If I took a wrong meaning in your comment. I am very sorry for that and Do not hesitate to Explain me how you meant.
fyi i have read the quran in arabic cover to cover countless times. i have read the saudi-sanctioned english translation a few times and understood it. i have read the commentary of the quran. i have read sahih al-bukhari and parts of sahih muslim. my conclusion? its just a random ancient poetry book which doesnt deserve any more respect than the dhammapada or the Republic. in fact it may deserve less, since it heavily borrows from other faiths. there are some good parts in it, and there are useless parts in it. in fact there's nothing new there that hadnt been already or since thought of by other thinkers independtly. its not a very original book and extremely redundant in parts. there's hardly a strict adherence to a single subject instead it flows in a stream-of-consciousness like style.
my mention of abu lahab was to show that the quran was challenged by arabs who had heard of it over and over again, meaning that simply reading it over and over again wasnt enough to convince an arab who understood it. so the moral of the story was flawed. as for your questions, quran is in arabic coz Muhammed who recited it was an Arab. Humans exist because we evolved from a simple bacteria. The earth and the planets exist due to aggregation of matter and gas after the explosion called the Big Bang. i am too stupid to understand that last question. Btw i dont believe that God exists. So dont even try the design theory on me, or any of Harun Yahya's or Zakir Naik's dawah methods. And I'd kill myself before listening to any of those Saudi or Egyptian clerics. But you sound like a good bloke who is tolerant and nice, so i have no problem if you find meaning and comfort in Islam and Allah. But I've tried it and it didnt work for me, so please dont force it on me or waste your time in trying to convince me. i am happy if the quran has a good effect on you and shows you some meaning in life albeit false/imaginary. i just hope you dont advocate hatred or intolerance in the name of islam, but thats hard considering the nature of the religion. anyway the Quran fails to have that effect on me, so dont bother to waste your time with me. and before you say it, yes i know in your religion i should be killed and then i'll go to Hell and be burned and tortured there forever, that is after going through the barzakh. well i dont believe in that so, so much for the afterlife. and just to make you feel better, i havent won any thing here. you have won, i have lost. and that is the reason why i am not gonna reply to any more stuff here. i feel that i've said wat i wanted to say and i dont intend on 'proselytising' my views, coz i dunno profess to know what the Truth is, much less feel obliged to force my princples down ppl's throats. Live and let live adn learn to accept and tolerate. If not ... well nothing.
I dont want force you for anything, But the way you have wrote about was criticizing for the holly Quran, Also I believe the prophets words. there's no greater power to manipulate with the nature other than Allah subhaanahu Wath'Aalaa. I would never let any one to criticize the islamdheen, it's the fact that its the only religion now exist as it came from the God.
with in the human being there are some not thinkin about the creations. even if tomorow or today anyone dies who you think took a death of his/her life. who decide the time of death.who decide the time of born.you might say mother gives a child a birth and she decide the time. ask any mother who deliver baby do they have any power to birth the child when ever she want. can any one of us is able to change the time when the time of death comes. does it possible to say no not now tommorrow. Non-believers get proud, when they get a little power like there little dirty mouth can say what ever they want. but make sure that the god is watching and thers is a grave day. who you think gave a humans a thinking power more than any other living kind created in this world.
we the human beings are un capable of knowing this simple things.
I dont want say that believe the god. but I just want tell my friends question about this things your self. If the human came by there self why can't they wait to go when ever they want. Can you deley a second when death comes to you. people who has the money, they think everything in life is making fun and live happily.why can't anyone absorbing there power and richness, cant change other than that this world has ruled over by god.
Disasters
Who send the disasters?
look at in you are own, the way your body has created.if any human has the power to become, form like this, who will want to be paralised when comes to the world. but do anyone of us has that power to change other than god.
no right.therefore I would like to advice you that think about your self how small we are, how uncapable we are? just question your self.. any one who try to walk in a right path insha allah the most meciflull, would show him the way..
